Coming
EVENTS for the 2011-2012 Season
Dear Parents and Students,
Please
put these events on your calendar and plan to attend all that apply to
you.
I have purposely scheduled these
events in advance so that all can attend.
These events are held to expand
upon what you are learning in your weekly
lessons and the cost of these
events is covered in your monthly tuition,
Below the dates are further
descriptions of each of the events.
Detailed descriptions of each
event:
*Cool Socks Club: One
Friday per month: Nov. 4th, Dec. 9th, Jan. 13th, Feb. 10th, March 30th,
and April 13th from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. This club is open by invitation
only. Membership criteria is as follows: Students who have
finished their lesson books; practice for a minimum of an hour per day;
are willing to learn and memorize at least 3 classical pieces selected
by their teacher; meet on the dates given above; play in a special recital
on April 13th.
*Rehearsal/Piano Parties:
Sat. Nov. 19th, 2011; Sat. March 10th,
2012
Piano parties are held at Bridgton
Alliance Church and are an informal opportunity for students to play for
one another. Since piano study is more or less an isolated pursuit,
getting together as a group gives students much needed support, camaraderie
and encouragement. Concepts in music theory and history are often
covered during this time, as well. These parties are a great time
to play duets and memorized pieces, or to practice for an upcoming recital.
Students bring treats to share at the end during a time of refreshments.
I supply plates, napkins, cups and punch.
* Piano Explorer Composition
Contest: from
January through March.
Students will compose a piece,
and notate it with help from their teacher and enter it into the annual
composition contest held in the Piano Explorer Magazine.
*Recitals: Recitals
are a time to celebrate all that my students have accomplished. They
are held at the Bridgton Alliance Church. Students should dress as they
would for church, or a wedding, ( in other words, their best!) and invite
many, many people to come hear how hard they have worked. Students also
bring their favorite refreshments to share following the recital.
I supply plates, napkins, cups and punch.
Kids Playing For Kids Holiday

Kids Playing For Kids Holiday Recital to help support our Compassion Kids:
Meskerem and Duhimbaze.
